Back in the 1990s,
Concours Italiano
was an annual event – a gathering of all Italian automobiles, owners, and admirers on the greens of the Quail Lodge Resort in Carmel, California.
In 1998, it honored the designer Walter DeSilva of Alfa Romeo’s Centro Stile in a 5-page article.
The featured manufacturer Alfa Romeo was honored with a 12-page article inside titled “Sport & Design”.
The cover featured the legendary 1939 Alfa Romeo 8C 2500 Super Sport convertible.
In 1998, the event was held on the same weekend as the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours and the Monterey Historic Automobile Races at the Laguna Seca Raceway.
It was the single largest gathering of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Alfa Romeo, Iso, Bizzarini, DeTomaso, FIAT, Abarth and other Italian cars anywhere in US.
