This is an original retail box for the rare Seiko Prospex SBEX003 8L55-00B0 Hi-Beat 36000 Diver 50th Anniversary JAMSTEC Special Limited 500 Retail Box.  This was a proof-of-concept 1000m rated Duratec Titanium beast released 11-13-2015.  Regarding the history, in May 1983, two Professional Diver's 600m watches were affixed to the exterior hull of ‘SHINKAI 2000', the Japanese manned research submersible created by JAMSTEC (Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology). The watches were originally intended for use up to 600m, yet they withstood water pressure at a depth of 1,062m.  This watch pays homage to JAMSTEC and their role in Seiko's diver watch development as the release was to celebrate their 50th Anniversary of the production of the in 6217-8000 62MAS in 1965.  You get the original glossy inner box though the inside faux leather pillow and lining has worn - it was probably an in-store demo box as I don't think a personal set would have suffered such wear; I've wrapped the display pillow to prevent it from degradation.  Regardless, you get most of the goodies here including the Marine Master (Kanji/English) 8L55 Manual, JAMSTEC brochure + foam spacer and inner/outerouter box with white box wrap.  Box opens well without issues.  No tags.  The Seiko limited Edition JAMSTEC watches are celebrations of Seiko's technical prowess in the dive field.  This listing is for the box only (no watch).  This special edition box is as rare was the watch so here's your chance to pick one up.  If you don't have the watch, the brochure itself remains of interest to dive watch enthusiasts.
