Vintage Cobalt Blue / Burnt Orange Japanese Jar W/ Recessed Lid Scholars / Berry

A beautiful vintage estate lidded porcelain jar in cobalt blue, burnt orange and white with gilt trim. Unique shape - the jar looks like it has “shoulders”, and is scalloped. The lid is recessed and fits into the jar rather than over the top edge. Design at center on one side is leaves and berries, on the other side four scholars appear to be reading scrolls. It appears hand painted. I’m listing as Japanese as the “h” or “4” looking character on bottom is on other Japanese porcelain, the colors are similar to Imari pieces. When held to light and looking at inside you can see design on outside. It’s a beautiful jar!

Item is pre-owned and lightly used with some wear to gilt trim, dark spots on bottom where jar touches surfaces.
